OTT or over the top voice providers are those that distribute streaming media as a standalone product directly to viewers online, bypassing telecommunications, television, and broadcast television platforms which act as controller for content. This is the collective term used to refer to subscription-based video in on-demand services like tAmazon Video, Netflix, and others. These services are typically accessed through websites and on different devices. Researchers who conducted the Future Voice Strategies: mVoIP, Carrier OTT, WebRTC, HD & Voice Calling 2015-2020 project that the popularity of this service will be beneficial to service providers. This is a welcome development especially that a large number of OTT voice services still generate little revenue due to the fact that they are offered free or at a low cost. – Crischellyn Abayon
